Privacy Policy
Waynara helps people plan a move abroad: you browse immigration routes, and you can turn one into a personal checklist of steps, documents, appointments and costs. This policy explains what we store when you do that, why, and what control you have over it.
The short version. We store your account details and whatever you type into your journey tracker. We never ask you to upload your passport or any other document. We do not sell your data, show ads, or run advertising trackers. You can download everything we hold, or delete it permanently, from inside the app.
Who we are
Waynara is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at support@waynara.app for any question about your data or this policy.
What we collect
Information you give us
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | When you create an account | To identify your account, sign you in, and send password resets and confirmations |
| Name (optional) | At sign-up or in your profile | To address you in the app |
| Phone number and nationality (optional) | In your profile | To tailor route information to you |
| Journey content | As you use the tracker | The routes you start, your progress through each step, document names, their status and expiry dates, where you note that you keep them, appointment names, dates and locations, costs, savings and deadlines, plus any notes you add |
| Error reports | When you report a mistake in a route guide | So our team can check the route against its official source |
Information collected automatically
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Push notification token | So we can send reminders to your device. Stored only if you allow notifications |
| Account timestamps | When your account and your journey records were created or changed |
What we do not collect
- Your actual documents. Waynara records the name, status and expiry of a document, never the file. Your passport, certificates and bank statements stay with you.
- Payment or card details. The app does not take payments.
- Your location. We never request location access.
- Your contacts, photos or files.
- Advertising identifiers. Waynara contains no ads and no advertising or analytics trackers.
Why we are allowed to use it
We process your data to deliver the service you asked for — to run your account and your journey tracker — and because you consented by creating an account and, for notifications, by allowing them. Where the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 applies, these are our lawful bases: performance of a contract with you, and your consent. Where the UK or EU GDPR applies to you, the same two bases apply.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers. We use a small number of service providers who process data strictly on our instructions:
| Provider | What they handle | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Our database and account system — where your profile and journeys are stored | London, United Kingdom |
| Google Firebase Cloud Messaging | Delivery of push notifications to your device | United States and other Google regions |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, journeys, documents, appointments, costs, deadlines, notifications and device tokens are deleted with it. Backups are retained for a short period as part of normal database operation and then overwritten.
Your rights
- Get a copy of your data. In the app: Profile → Security and privacy → export your data.
- Delete your account and data. Profile → Security and privacy → delete account. Immediate and permanent. See deleting your account for the alternative by email.
- Correct your details. Profile → Personal information.
- Turn off notifications. In your device settings. We then stop sending reminders and the token is no longer used.
- Object or complain. Write to support@waynara.app. If you are in Nigeria you may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission; in the UK or EU, to your local data protection authority.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Our database enforces per-user access rules, so one account cannot read another's data. No system is perfectly secure, so we also keep the amount of sensitive data we hold deliberately small — which is why we do not store your documents.
Children
Waynara is for adults planning a move abroad and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.
Information, not legal advice
Route guides in Waynara are general information compiled from official government sources and checked by our team. They are not legal or immigration advice, and we are not an immigration adviser. Always confirm requirements on the official source before you apply.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
